Before I start this post I just want to say that I love to read. That being said....
TOO MUCH READING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love senior year because my classes are great and I have this new-found power and independence, but there is so much reading for all of those classes! Almost 50 pages of history reading, but the book basically has two pages on each page so it is like 100 pages of history reading. Reading excerpts from plato's The Republic, reading Candide by Voltaire in French, and even reading for math.
Thats a lot of reading. Even for a nerd that read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows straight through in one day. I love to read, I always have and probably always will. However, all of this reading is driving me insane!! When you work on a problem for an hour, you feel good about the fact that you have a page of work shown in front of you and you are DOING something. In reading, you work hard for an hour and you still have 15 pages left until the second make-up assignment that you have to do and then, of course, read the novel for french and then english and write papers on them respectively.
I like to do something that i can physically see my accomplishment on it, or the work that I've done on it throughout the day. Reading history books all day really doesn't fit that description does it?
School is great, class is great, but now that I have my first weekend I realize that I have a lot of work, time consuming work, this year. And that is both cool and definitely terrifying.
Why is having a lot of work cool? Because when you have a lot of work, even if it is hard and time consuming, you learn so much more. Also, it shows that the teachers expect us to act more maturely and be able to organize our time in our own way. It shows that the school trusts us to be able to withstand the pressure of the work and for us to truly accept a challenge and overcome it. I think that's really cool.
Yes I am just a nerd that loves to solve problems and know how stuff works, but I also think that everyone likes to be challenged and be forced to prove themselves to others.
So here I am, taking a break from reading and writing to vent to the internet.
Did I mention that its Saturday?
